Memory is fragile and fragmentary. The journey into what has been treasured and lost is illusory and surprising. When we packed up my parents’ house their cherished nick-nacks were carefully wrapped, catalogued and boxed. The collection waits in a cold, clinical storage facility. It is this sense of the personal and universal I wanted to portray in this photographic series. Each bubble-wrapped object, except for the box, is photographed identically with an eery blue hue and short depth of field. The photographic atmosphere alludes to a museum, but also suggest a morgue, and the repository of the box is central.
